Shark Cage Diving with RETURN Transfer from Hermanus

Gansbaai

Activity Description

All trips are weather and tide dependant and launch times may vary accordingly from those stated. Your launch time will be confirmed the day before.

Unlike bungee jumping or skydiving, the adrenaline rush from shark cage diving comes from being face to face with one of the world’s greatest predators: the Great White Shark.

The experience puts you in their territory while the safety of the activity allows you to be an observer and learn what Great White Sharks are really like. An on board marine biologist will educate you about this amazing apex predator.

Shark Cage Diving is safe for children and elders and gives the whole family a wonderful opportunity to bond in a fun environment surrounded by experts and researchers.

After this once in a life time experience, you’ll find yourself buzzing with excitement and adrenaline. You will have had the opportunity to come up close and personal with one of the oceans most majestic and foreboding creatures.

Here is a brief breakdown of what to expect once you arrive:
• Before the trip guests meet at THE GREAT WHITE HOUSE in Kleinbaai
• You will receive breakfast or lunch and register your wetsuit size
• Guests receive a pre-trip safety briefing about what to expect during the trip and a biological background on great white sharks
• We then take a 200m stroll down to the harbour to board Slashfin
• Travel time to Dyer Island is approximately 20 minutes, with the shallows being a short 10 minute ride (where we anchor depends on where the sharks are)
• On average, we anchor for 2 hours, but this depends on shark activity, conditions, as well as number of divers
• Weather permitting, we take a quick trip through the infamous Shark Alley
• Lastly, a debrief in the Great White House and a celebratory beverage to toast the occasion!

Why We Are Different:
• A dedicated marine biologist on board every trip
• Our Boat (Slashfin) is the largest in the industry (most deck space per customer) and was purposely built for shark cage diving and includes two restrooms, and an upper deck for the ultimate viewing and photography experience when not in the cage.
• A fully licensed Restaurant and Crew House, aptly named the GREAT WHITE HOUSE, which includes facilities such as: 2 marine rooms where professional safety and informative briefings are given before each trip + separate ladies/gents/handicap restroom facilities with a 5-star rating + curio shop
• We guarantee clean, dry wetsuits (a rarity in the industry)
• Our crew receives as many compliments as the Great White Sharks, with more combined experience than any other Shark Cage Diving crew.
• You will leave with great memories and a deep appreciation of this majestic animal.

Customer Reviews

Amazing experience! Staff was professional, friendly and most importantly attentive. It was an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with these impressive animals of the deep. Felt very safe the entire time and left more informed and with a greater understanding of sharks. Thanks to the staff and crew or Marine Dynamics for making this "bucket list" item a special one! - Lori Katz

Great tour, highly recommend. Bucket list - kila bagaria

We enjoyed our day with you very much, despite the fact that we did not see a Great White Shark. But we knew that before we booked, having read about the Orcas attacking the sharks in the area. The staff on the boat were lovely. Good fun and what I thought was very thoughtful was the way in which the volunteers on board particularly looked after those unfortunate folks who were very sea-sick that day. It was no wonder because there was a significant swell and people unused to the sea would not realise how ill this can make you feel. We had taken medication so although we had nausea we were not actually sick. It might be an idea to advise people not to have very much in the way of fluids before going on a sea trip and to eat dry biscuits or crackers or similar before and during the trip. Too much fluid makes people much worse. We loved the boat and the excitement of going out into the bay at high speed! Great! Perhaps we will be back in SA again some day and we'll do the trip again and hope for better visibility and a flat calm!! Best wishes, Lorraine Shearing, Bristol, England - Lorraine Shearing

We opted to be collected from Hermanus and driven to Kleinbaai which was a nice relaxed start to the day. When we arrived, we were provided with breakfast and had an interesting video about the sharks in the bay before heading out in the boat. Everyone on board was so friendly and helpful especially Sarah, the marine biologist, who provided us with lots of interesting information. The weather was glorious so the visibility from the boat was very good. We didn't have to wait long for the sharks and got two dives in which was just awesome. There's nothing like coming face-to-face with a great white shark! The wetsuits were really good and the sea didn't feel cold at all. And there was a lot of focus on safety which reassured us that this was a very professional outfit. After the cage dive, we were taken to Shark Alley to see all the seals and we were also lucky to see a humpback whale in the bay. Once back at the Centre we got some very welcome hot soup and rolls, got to see the video that one of the staff had taken on the trip and were then taken back to Hermanus. All in all, a fantastic trip - would thoroughly recommend Marine Dynamics. - Monica Johnston

Had a good trip out on slashfin, sea was a little choppy but that was great fun. unfortunately no shark show but I did see a stingray and seals. Nature is unpredictable and that's the beauty of it. On borad biologists were very knowledgeable.Transfers from hotel was comfortable and breakfast and snacks were tasty. Thank you for a lovely trip out. - Christine Foster
