Shark Cage Diving with RETURN Transfer from Cape Town

Activity Description

All trips are weather and tide dependant and launch times may vary accordingly from those stated. Your launch time will be confirmed the day before.

Unlike bungee jumping or sky diving, the adrenaline rush from shark cage diving comes from being face to face with one of the world’s greatest predators: the Great White Shark.

The experience puts you in their territory while the safety of the activity allows you to be an observer and learn what Great White Sharks are really like. An on board marine biologist will educate you about this amazing apex predator.

Shark Cage Diving is safe for children and elders and gives the whole family a wonderful opportunity to bond in a fun environment surrounded by experts and researchers.

After this once in a life time experience, you’ll find yourself buzzing with excitement and adrenaline. You will have had the opportunity to come up close and personal with one of the oceans most majestic and foreboding creatures.

Here is a brief breakdown of what to expect once you arrive:
• Before the trip guests meet at THE GREAT WHITE HOUSE in Kleinbaai
• You will receive breakfast or lunch and register your wetsuit size
• Guests receive a pre-trip safety briefing about what to expect during the trip and a biological background on great white sharks
• We then take a 200m stroll down to the harbour to board Slashfin
• Travel time to Dyer Island is approximately 20 minutes, with the shallows being a short 10 minute ride (where we anchor depends on where the sharks are)
• On average, we anchor for 2 hours, but this depends on shark activity, conditions, as well as number of divers
• Weather permitting, we take a quick trip through the infamous Shark Alley
• Lastly, a debrief in the Great White House and a celebratory beverage to toast the occasion!

Why We Are Different:
• A dedicated marine biologist on board every trip
• Our Boat (Slashfin) is the largest in the industry (most deck space per customer) and was purposely built for shark cage diving and includes two restrooms, and an upper deck for the ultimate viewing and photography experience when not in the cage.
• A fully licensed Restaurant and Crew House, aptly named the GREAT WHITE HOUSE, which includes facilities such as: 2 marine rooms where professional safety and informative briefings are given before each trip + separate ladies/gents/handicap restroom facilities with a 5-star rating + curio shop
• We guarantee clean, dry wetsuits (a rarity in the industry)
• Our crew receives as many compliments as the Great White Sharks, with more combined experience than any other Shark Cage Diving crew.
• You will leave with great memories and a deep appreciation of this majestic animal.

Customer Reviews

We booked a morning shark excursion with transfer from Cape Town. We were picked up promptly at 4:30AM & arrived 2 hours later in Gansbaai where we were briefed on what would occur during our adventure. They provided breakfast buffet before heading to the dock to board our boat. The water was a cold 60F (14C), but the wetsuits that were provided kept us very warm even in the chilly waters. We were the first group into the cage & even though I'm not exactly sure how long we were in the cage, it was more than enough time to witness these magnificent creatures up close right against the cage & underwater in spite of low visibility conditions due to the efforts of the crew. We were lucky enough to witness 2 copper sharks & then later 2 great white sharks. There was enough time for people to go back into the cage for a 2nd trip if they so inclined. Although I do get seasick, the experience was more than worth feeling the motion of the ocean. When we returned & changed out of our wetsuits, soup & bread was provided while we got to watch a DVD of our voyage that was shot by a member of the crew which we received via e-mail b/c we booked online. We chose Marine Dynamics because they are more than just a tourist attraction, they do daily blogposts about their excursions & care about conservation of the wildlife they observe. - Meaghan Keuling

What a fantastic experience !! We were picked up promptly in Cape Town and taken to Gansbaai where breakfast was waiting for us. Right from the start it was clear that we'd chosen the right company for our Shark Cage Diving Tour. Everything was organised to perfection, the staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day and we also saw five different sharks including a great white shark. We would recommend Marine Dynamics to anyone wanting to go shark cage diving. Many thanks for an unforgettable experience !! - MIGUEL ANGEL NEILA

Very professional-from transfer driver, briefing, reception staff, marine biologist and boat attendants. Clearly communicated expectations on the behaviour of sharks and what we were likely to see as a result. Very clean and well-appointed facilities. Ran to scheduled time. - Rohan Langford

3 great whites, seal, and other sharks. Really cool experience. I got to go in 2x. Hubby 1x (got seasick). This was a great adventure and not scary or negatively impactful to sea life. You don’t need to swim or be a swimmer as you hold on the entire time with foot and handrails. Water is cold but tolerable. Would definitely do it again. - STACEY SCHATZ

Very cool - Mohammed Muktadir
