Marine Dynamics enjoys sightings of great whites, copper sharks (bronze whalers) and even the occasional stingray at our vessel. Great White Shark behaviour is less predictable post orca predation in 2017. Daily blog of sightings is available. All content on our website is the property of Marine Dynamics.

Unlike bungy jumping or sky diving, the adrenaline rush from shark cage diving comes from being face to face with one of the world’s greatest predators: the Great White Shark.

The experience puts you in their territory while the safety of the activity allows you to be an observer and learn what Great White Sharks are really like. An onboard marine biologist will educate you about this amazing apex predator.

Shark Cage Diving is safe for children and elders and gives the whole family a wonderful opportunity to bond in a fun environment surrounded by experts and researchers.

After this once in a lifetime experience, you’ll find yourself buzzing with excitement and adrenaline. You will have had the opportunity to come up close and personal with one of the oceans most majestic and foreboding creatures.

Here is a brief breakdown of what to expect once you arrive:
• Before the trip guests meet at THE GREAT WHITE HOUSE in Kleinbaai
• Guests receive a pre-trip safety briefing about what to expect during the trip and a biological background on great white sharks
• We then take a 200m stroll down to the harbour to board Slashfin
• Travel time to Dyer Island is approximately 20 minutes, with the shallows being a short 10-minute ride (where we anchor depends on where the sharks are)
• On average, we anchor for 2 hours, but this depends on shark activity, conditions, as well as a number of divers
• Weather permitting, we take a quick trip through the infamous Shark Alley
• Lastly, a debrief in the Great White House

Why We Are Different:
• Your Safety is our priority. Visit our home page to view our updated COVID-19 Protocols
• A dedicated marine biologist onboard every trip
• Our Boat (Slashfin) is the largest in the industry (most deck space per customer) and was purposely built for shark cage diving and includes two restrooms, and an upper deck for the ultimate viewing and photography experience when not in the cage.
• A fully licensed Restaurant and Crew House, aptly named the GREAT WHITE HOUSE, which includes facilities such as: 2 marine rooms where professional safety and informative briefings are given before each trip + separate ladies/gents/handicap restroom facilities with a 5-star rating + curio shop
• We guarantee clean, dry wetsuits (a rarity in the industry)
• Our crew receives as many compliments as the Great White Sharks, with more combined experience than any other Shark Cage Diving crew.
• You will leave with great memories and a deep appreciation of this majestic animal.

Customer Reviews

A superbly well organized experience. Our trip had to be postponed and the organizer called us to reschedule. We knew exactly where to be and at what time. The briefing was great as well as the organizing of wetsuits etc. I had two kids aged 6 and 8 booked and they were put at ease and very excited. The boat was spacious and not crowded. All the spotters, volunteers and Susy were all fantastic. The snacks, hot chocolate etc was also nice to have. The actual cage felt safe and my kids loved the thrill of getting in. I know the team tried hard and we had a very quick encounter with a 5m female white shark!!! The staff helped my kids get changed and were very attentive to my wife who was in crutches during the whole Trip. Overall I would definitely and will be returning again and using Marine Dynamics for another shark trip and also potentially a whale spotting and bird pelagic trip. A superb experience and wonderful service. The video of the trip was also a lovely keepsake which was included for us as we booked directly. Well done guys!!!! This is a great example of how SA tourism should be done! - Robert Cliff

A great outing with Professional Guides and numerous sharks seen! - Roy Sproul

Thank you so much to the exceptional crew for your professionalism and the amazing experience you provided. It was honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. The crew and Olivia were so informative, friendly, professional and I learnt so much on the day. The whole trip was so well organised from start to end. Shark cage diving has always been on the top of my bucket list and I couldn't have asked for a better day, seeing great whites and bronze whalers was incredible. It was also my birthday that day so I definitely had the best birthday ever! Thank you again! - Kerry-Ann Lush

I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to dive with a shark. We saw one from the boat, but it quickly disappeared. I understand that it is a wild animal and that you can not controle them, but I just feel that you can maybe give a voucher for example 50% off of the next one. I feel that this is something that I would have to do again, because we did not get to have the full experience and this is not something that I can not tick of my bucketlist now. There were also a lot off people on the boat and I feel that when the shark came not everyone could get in the cage at that time and therefore missed it. The crew where very professional and did a wonderful job at keeping everyone calm and informed. - Gretha Truter

Our family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Sadly we had no sightings however the experience was nonetheless memorable. Staff onboard was very friendly and shared a wealth of information during the trip. Would love to return again! - Arno Gerber
